Welcome to the official web site of the Securities Commission of the Bahamas.  Since our inception in 1995, we have remained vigilant in our efforts to regulate the Bahamian securities industry, firmly and fairly in a transparent and accountable manner.

As we embrace the challenges of the millennium, investor protection through education remains our primary objective.  We are committed to the principle that investors should have access to the tools they need to make informed decisions.   In this vein, we will continue to develop a public presence, particularly in the schools, and through the use of the media and published materials to impart knowledge and confidence in financial products.

In our endeavor to keep abreast in an ever-changing global regulatory environment and to ensure a Bahamian contribution in improving the efficiency and conduct of international markets the Commission became a member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and the Council of Securities Regulators (COSRA) in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

In keeping with the growing demands of our regulatory landscape, we have made a significant investment in technology, facilities, increased our staff complement and will continue to develop employee skills and working methods.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to building a dynamic regulatory regime that not only best serves the interest of its participants but maintains the standards necessary to conform to international benchmarks.
