Investor Education Month Proclamation

The month of October has been designated “Investor Education Month” in The Bahamas by Prime Minister Philip Davis, KC. The proclamation serves to increase awareness of investing in the capital markets, the Commission’s role in its regulation, and to emphasize the importance of financial literacy and investor education in empowering the public to make sound investment decisions.

The Commission will release a series of educational videos to empower investors with essential knowledge and tools needed to navigate the financial markets safely and effectively. Each video will focus on topics crucial for modern investors, promoting financial literacy and informed decision-making.

Financial Literacy for Students

To promote financial literacy in the education system, the Securities Commission of The Bahamas will visit a number of senior high schools, to present on the basics of financial literacy including budgeting, saving, crypto assets as well as frauds and scams.

Make Money Moves: A financial literacy program for teen mothers

The Commission will continuing its annual partnership with the Andrea Archer Institute to provide financial literacy training for enrolled students as part of the World Investor Week 2024 initiativies. The Andrea Archer Institute provides education opportunities and training to assist new and existing teen mothers who had difficulty completing school due to pregnancy. This initiative aims to equip teen mothers with the practical skills and tools necessary to confidently make sound financial decisions to create a better future for themselves and their children.
